First time tampon advice

Im 16 and i kind of want to start using tampons but im lowkey scared i dont know why i feel like some blood will still come out so i think i need to wear a pad at the same time and im not trying to . Tmi but i hate waking up with blood on the side of my underwear and stuff. I remember my mom once said you cant wear tampons until you have a baby this and that but i dont think its true
