Qualifications for lap band surgery?

I weigh 235 pounds and I am 5’8. The only health issues I have are somewhat high cholesterol and asthma. Could I possibly get lap band surgery covered by insurance? Anyone with experience with this?

Lap band isn’t too recommended these days compared to gastric sleeve. My cousins got sleeved in Mexico 5 years ago and look so great! They only paid about 4K.

Please do not get the lap band. 
Look at the rate of failure meaning that another surgery is needed. 
Go for the VSG(sleeve). It's been around a lot longer and is much more successful for people.
