Open relationship ??

So my luck with guys just suck I’m 23 and I’m tired of messing around but the chances of finding someone that I can have a long lasting relationship in my small college town is about 5%. I’ve had several dating opportunities but I wasn’t interested or they’ve all gone to shit. In my most recent endeavor the guy has informed me that he is in a 5 year open relationship and when he travels out of the country ( he is from France) they go on a break and resume things when he returns. I know this isn’t what I want but at the same time I’m thinking about seeing what happens because I know at the end of the semester we will both leave so it can be something that keeps me entertained in the meantime but I’m also scared that I may develop real feelings for him and things with his girlfriend that he is taking a break from will get complicated. What would you guys do if you were in my situation??
