Valentine’s Day is coming up and I always liked the holiday it’s just so cute to me. I know you’re supposed to love your partner everyday but I just always in high school wish I had a bf to celebrate with. Fast forward I know my husband isn’t going to give me anything 😔 7 years later and he’s never got me anything for Valentine’s Day even though he knows I like the holiday and even decorate the house. He never buys anything for me for Christmas, anniversary, my birthday either. And he knows I do appreciate gifts. Guess just have to accept it

Have you verbally told him how much it hurts you that he ignores you on the holidays? Thats gonna be your first step. Him getting you a gift a few times a year shows he still thinks about you, otherwise it means he's selfish and self centered.

I'm excited. It's my first one as a single person for 8 years but I'm going to make it nice and special for me and my kids. I'm getting them a little gift each and a love heart balloon. Then I'm making little heart shaped items for breakfast and a nice dinner later on.

Have you sat down and told him what your expectations are? Sometimes you literally have to say it out loud, even if it seems intuitive to you. Like I literally had to tell my husband I expect a card for Mother's Day and to have some sort of holiday gift exchange (intercultural, interreligious relationship).

My family always treated valentines day as a kid's holiday. I LOVE celebrating it with my girls so insanely much. I get them chocolates and stuffies and we do a heart shaped pizza and make hot cocoa. Oh, and we often get ice cream and make cookies too. I get so excited for it every year 🥰
But if you really want something, however small, you should communicate it with your partner. And if you have and your partner refuses to do it, then I feel so sorry for you 😔 it's hard when we express are desires and they go ignored

Idk. Valentine’s Day of 2019, I was at the love of my life’s funeral. A few hours after I got the call that he passed away (two days prior), the Valentine’s Day gift he got me, came in early. That day is more painful for me than loving. If that makes sense.

I waited tables for way too many years to put that much stock in a Hallmark holiday that happens once a year. I just don’t care. I make short ribs in the slow cooker every valentines because that’s what I’ve done every year to have when we finally got home after arguably the most absurd day in restaurants. It’s tradition at this point. If we didn’t have that, we wouldn’t do anything. We prefer to love and appreciate each other every day 🤷🏼‍♀️
