Bicornuate uterus rupture/miscarriage

Jaelyn

I am 28 years old and just lost my first baby at 19 weeks due to a bicornuate uterus. I have never known thus far I had that type of uterus. I had a tragic event happen recently on NYE, and that is how I found out.

Long story short I got pregnant last Sept no no problem and we were over the moon excited. Last NYE, I was headed to an MFM appt (for different reasons) and 10 min from the hospital, my uterus ruptured and had internal bleeding. I passed out, was rushed to ER by husband (I had angels watching over me 🙏🏻) and showed up with extremely low blood pressure and was dying from all the blood loss. They gave me blood, rushed me back for emergency surgery, and had to take out my sweet baby boy who formed in the rudimentary horn of my bicornuate uterus. They said he was doomed from the beginning. 😢 I was 19 weeks, which I have read is a common time to miscarry with this type of uterus/where he formed. They took out the ruptured portion of the uterus on the right side and my right Fallopian tube. They saved what they could—so am now am left with the remaining part of my uterus, left mature horn, and right ovary. Which I am thankful for.

I am left with a midline scar and am still recovering. Emotionally and physically this is extremely hard. I don’t know what the future holds for me getting pregnant again. Leaning on God, our support system, and communities like this.

Anyone else have an unfortunate experience similar to this? 😔
