Insemination is it worth it ?

I have severe Endometriosis. My husband and I were referred to a fertility specialist. We are now taking the first steps to being tested and then if everything is well we are going to try insemination. We don’t make enough money to do <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a> so this is really our only option.

I would love some input From women who have had this procedure. What are the side effects/ odds of it working. And what were your experiences good or bad. I would love some input I am very nervous I don’t want to get my hopes up until I know everything is OK but I am super excited about it.

Unfortunately it didn't work for us. It's a pretty low success rate, although some do have success. We did 6 rounds and then moved onto IVF.

For severe endo, I would think not. It costs about $1000, depending on your clinic and the success rate peaks at 20% each go. That 20% is more for people that don’t have major issues (such as same sex couples). Have you considered taking a job someplace that offers fertility coverage? I’ve heard that Starbucks does after you work there for a few months. It may be a good option to explore!

Your doctor should be able to give you a sense of what kind of success chance you'll have, in your specific medical situation. As Vino said above, ~20% chance of success with each IUI is for folks without major complicating factors like endo. You might be looking at less than that--your RE can tell you.
But, I'd suggest looking at things like a numbers game. IUI has a lower success chance than IVF *per individual cycle,* but after multiple IUIs, can be comparable or better than a single round of IVF (which is around 40-60%, depending on situation). If your insurance covers IUI, but not IVF, then you may want to ask if there's a limit on how many attempted cycles you can have. If you, say, only have a 10% chance of success with each IUI, then you might end up having to have 10 or more rounds of IUI to achieve a pregnancy, statistically speaking. But if you're paying out of pocket for IUI, it may start to become comparable to IVF with that many cycles.
Definitely run your numbers in terms of cost vs. success, and good luck with whatever direction you decide to pursue!

My doctor said we had about a 10 percent success rate with each cycle of IUI. We have decided not to move forward with them.
