Semen sample

So I did fertility treatment few years ago and in that clinic my husband got to provide his sample in the clinic and he would provide sample few hours before the procedure and they would do a sperm wash. Well I am starting to see a new dr at a new clinic since I have moved. I've only had the initial consultation so far but in this clinic they requested my husband provide sample at home for sperm analysis...I'm curious how it will stay alive when the clinic is 30-40 minutes away. Also will they require the same on day of the procedure because then how do they do sperm wash...I'm 43 so this is pretty much my last attempt in trying and I have no kids from fertility treatment I tried few years ago
