Gestational Diabetes - current size of baby
Any other GD mama's - feel free to share your experience.
I had GD with both my kids. My first, my daughter, was born average size, 7 lbs 1 oz. And she is still on the smaller size at 4 years old - 33 lbs, 39 in. By at year old, she was 19.4 lbs, 29.25 in.
My second, my son, was born almost 9 lbs(an oz shy). Currently, at 10 months, he is 18 lbs 4 oz, almost 29 in. He hasn't gained any weight in a month, though he eats solids like a champ. He has always been a short nurser, maybe 5 minutes at a time, but will usually take a full 5 oz bottle at daycare. The doctor is concerned about his weight gain, or lack thereof.
However, my daughter is also small and just a smidge bigger at a year old and he still has a month and a half until he is a year. I think he will have similar measurements. The doctor said if he doesn't gain more by his year check up we will have to see a GI specialist. I never had this conversation or concern brought up with my daughters doctor and, again, they are measuring similarly at this age.
I guess the reason for this post is, if any other GD mom's had larger babies that then didn't gain on the projected curve? Any feedback, experiences, words of support/wisdom is greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
