Marriage at 17?

Question

Just asked my step mom if I can get married she was like if this is really what I want then she’ll sign for me to get married but I don’t know I might wait till I’m 18 in a few months. What do you guys think?

Honestly it depends on the person. I'm 17 and I don't think i can make big decisions like marraige until after i graduate college? but if you really love the other person, and youve been with each other for awhile, i wouldnt be completely agaisnt it. imho, maybe wait until 18, but in the end its up to you :)

May I ask why you want to get married so young? I got married 2 months after I turned 17 because I was pregnant, so no judgement. But I definitely would have waited for a few years had I not been pregnant. 
I will say everything is easier when your 18. I wasn't able to do so many things until I was 18. Like apply for my own insurance with my son, be on our lease with my husband, I couldn't do anything that I needed credit for. I couldn't even sign waivers for myself even though I was married with a kid, they still wanted my parents to sign. Just to give you some things to think about.

Go for it if you feel like he’s the one then do what makes you happy and have him tied down before some other girl snatches him but do what make you feel comfortable

I'm 17 and have the best man as a boyfriend...! I really want to married him while being 17 with parents approval. Im just waiting on my schooling. You are young like me so think about if he can support you... and a family.  I would definitely think about seriously if this is the guy you want your kids raised by. I am a Christian so if there's any questions about my relationship I totally open! We've done things much different then "normal." Lol

I think this is something that’s different for everyone. There will be people out there that will tell you that you need to wait until your 25 and then others that say it doesn’t matter. I got married at 18 and we are still extremely happy! I think it depends on how you have built your relationship up until that point. People have a lot of negative things to say about young marriage and a lot of the time it seems to be the people who were never in that position. Of course there are people who get married young and it doesn’t work out. I have been with my husband since we were 14 and we were able to get through that. It was very hard work but we loved each other and we did it.

I was married at 16 been with my husband since I was 13. We have now been married 16 years. This July we will celebrate 20 years today and 17 years of marriage. While it’s not easy it was so worth it. We have 4 living children. 15,12,11, & 2. I still went to college and worked. I have my MSN in Nursing. Everything can still be achieved with hard work and determination. It’s not for everyone but if he is what’s in your heart then go for it.

I would say go through the steps like make sure you can live together, if you are financially stable and just enjoy being bf and gf. Personally I think it’s a too young but obviously I don’t know you or your situation.

Personally I would not be getting married young. Marriage is a huge responsibility. The biggest reasons for divorce is 1. money. They can’t manage financially or never have money or you don’t. Controlling money. Them feeling like it’s their money or you having to ask or beg for it or change in rolls of you stay home to care for kids. #2 family. Them choosing their family over you. Baby mama from hell. Horribly Behaved kids that are not your own (step kids) mother in law from hell, lack of boundaries then coming over whenever they please when all you want is a moment of silence especially after having a baby or them interfering or trying to tell you how to raise your kids or just treating you like crap. And #3 infidelity happens more than you realize. Especially once you get pregnant or have kids. Online, fan only accounts, porn, the cute girl at the office that things he’s the best thing next to the invention of sliced bread. She treats him like a king. She does what you won’t do and without the complaining, fighting or drama. Sex is so freely given a d accessible that you can literally order a woman like a meal on grub hub. Neither of you are probably ready for marriage. Money to buy a house, finished college, a good career, good credit. You can’t rent a car until you are 25, if you don’t have credit you can’t rent an apartment. And living with someone is way different especially when they go from their mothers basement. Where his mother did everything for him and he got an allowance and will expect you to do everything or will do nothing until you get tired of asking and do it yourself. People change. Neither of you have gone to college and for all you know he will want the college life of drinking and partying. And where does that leave you. Or you decide to go to different school far away. You may decide that you want different things in life and that includes each other. And what if when you decide to live together, you find out he’s controlling or uses passive aggressive behavior or guilt or manipulation or is controlling or has anger issues or is abusive. Or if you are sexually compatible or so many other things that you don’t know until you live with someone. You can read story after story on here of so many women that are unhappy and ready for divorce. And had rose colored goggles on and did not see red flags and are miserable. I honestly would not get married young.
