Anyone with PCOS? Looking for personal experiences

Heather

I have been diagnosed with PCOS in the last couple months. I was wondering if you've been diagnosed with PCOS has your GP put you on any medication to help?

My GP said she's not allowed to put me on medication for it. I've got to see a fertility specialist first (which she has to refer me to and hasn't) which I thought was odd as heard so many people get given Metformin to try even when not TTC just go help with symptoms..

It's getting to the point I'm wanting to change doctor as my gp just keeps brushing me off or not getting in touch with me anymore when I try reaching out to her. For example I had progesterone testing last month and she hasn't told me either results, which I know they normally say no news is good news but I know I didn't ovulate at a standard point if at all so she should of been InTouch to discuss that with me, and my luteal phase seems to be getting concerningly short which I informed her off but again heard nothing.. but want to know it's standard for GP not to do anything before considering changing as would be pointless to change to get the same treatment.
