Crib to toddler bed?

Question

When are you planning on transitioning your baby to a toddler bed or crib with the small railing? We have a convertible crib to one with a small railing.

We are waiting as long as possible! My son climbed out of his crib the other week so we took the mattress support off and his mattress is on the floor (the rails are 2” from the floor so there isn’t a gap between his mattress and crib rails). My daughter was 2.5 before she climbed out so I was hoping we would get closer to that age with our son...but he had other plans! I do know, from experience, that anything you don’t want to be opened and destroyed will need to be baby proofed (dresser drawers, closet doors, bedroom doors, etc). They also sleep a lot on surfaces that aren’t their beds (floor, glider...on top of the dresser). Some kids are little angels and stay in bed...and some are little adventure seekers and test the boundaries.

We're going from crib to day bed setting in  about a week once we move her crib to the new house.  She sleeps in our bed all the time and doesn't really move too much.

Not until she's at least 2, when she can understand that she is not allowed to get out. When they can understand the concept. In my experience, potty training comes before toddler bed.

We transitioned her around christmas 🙂 We really wanted a floor bed but ended up getting a normal toddler bed instead because it was cheaper.

We transitioned to a toddler bed at 15 months & then to a twin sized bed at 18 months. She sleeps way better now than she ever did in her crib so it has worked out great for us!

Amelia sleeps in both the crib and toddler bed one for naps one for bedtime. She doesn’t mind her crib. I have a friend who just moved their to a toddler bed and she is 3.5. Everyone is different!

My 4 year old never tried to escape her crib, so we rode it out as long as possible! Eventually, she just started rolling around hitting the sides and seemed very uncomfortable... right as she turned 3, we did the toddler bed and at 4, the full size bed that the crib converted to! Worked out well for us. We’ll see how things go with June baby.... so far, she hasn’t tried to get out. Fingers crossed it will go smooth with her as well!🤞🤞🤣

Aria will go into a standard single bed at 2, when the baby will be 6 months and go into the cot. But the more I think about it the more it stresses me 😂 aria hates sleep and when she goes into a bed she will then be sharing a room with my eldest who loves sleep 🙃 so it could end with the whole house awake!

We converted him to his Montessori bed right before Christmas and he did AMAZING! He never gets out when he’s suppose to be sleeping which completely shocked us! We really didn’t think he was ready but we were so wrong!!
