My baby is only 1 week old. I’m breastfeeding I’m only getting 1-2 ounces of milk. He cries when I have nothing else coming out. Is that normal ?

Are you pumping and feeding baby? If you’re pumping this early you will cause yourself to have an oversupply. It’s recommended to wait at least 6-8 weeks after birth to pump bc that’s when your milk will regulate. Also if you are pumping after feeding baby on the breast then 1-2 oz is a normal output. Normal would be 1-3 oz total . Also pumping won’t be an indication of how much baby is eating bc baby is more efficient than a pump. Also cluster feeding is normal and that’s why it seems like baby is always hungry. Keep putting baby to breast and feed on demand at every hunger cue bc that’s what’s going to build your supply

Just let him latch and stay latches as much as he would like. If your breasts still feel full and he’s crying, try to massage your breasts while he’s eating to stimulate the milk. Allow your baby to latch as much as he would like because this is the best way to bring in more milk. Cluster feeding is normal and it’s the baby doing their job exactly. Sometimes pumping can interfere with that. To prevent engorgement, use a hakaa to help pull off some milk until the pressure has been released, but no more. Wait a few more weeks to pump. I actually started pumping at 3 weeks for my own reasons and I did get an oversupply. I took months for it to be under control. While it’s super nice to have plenty of milk, having an oversupply can cause a lot of issues and it’s honestly super annoying.

If you are nursing you need to stop pumping. Doing this can easily push your body into over supply and you don’t want that. It can cause too many problems. Just feed baby on demand and let baby regulate your supply. No need to pump until roughly 6wks when your supply has regulated.
