Do you think beauty can be a burden?

Question

We all know the obvious advantages that would come along from being beautiful.  But no one really talks about the burdens that come along with it:
Harassment 
Jealousy
Women disliking you without good reason
Having to prove your intelligence 
Etc.
Do you think the downsides are worth having if it means being gorgeous?

Socialization has led me to believe that if I say anything good about myself other women will hate me, so I’m honestly hesitant to share this. I’ll do it anyway. 
I’m pretty sure I tick most of the conventionally attractive to western society boxes, or at least I did when I was younger. I’ve been stopped at random in public more than once to be asked if I’d ever considered modeling, not by creepy men either. I’ve had agencies give me their cards (I’ve never followed up or worked in the industry). 
I’ve also gained a shit ton of weight after an injury that left me unable to walk for months. I have an eating disorder where I’ve starved myself super thin to the point I look like a damn vampire. I’ve struggled with depression where tying my hair in a knot in my head and putting on clean leggings feels dressed up. 
Currently I’m probably somewhere in average territory. I’m over 35, I’ve gained some quarantine weight that I hate, and have completely given up makeup for the time being, but I don’t have any wrinkles or grey hair yet. I could probably pass for a decade younger if I actually cared to put some effort into it. 
All this is to give insight into my perspective. 
The closer I get to conventionally attractive by western standards I get, the better I’m treated overall by both men and women. The further I get from that, the worse I’m treated. I’ve also noticed more predatory men would come around when I wasn’t at the top of my game. My insight in retrospect is that they were going for what they perceived as the weak gazelle in the heard. It’s why “negging” is a thing  I’ve had snotty women say snotty things no matter what. It’s who they are, and what they do. It’s not really about me, or how I look.

Not to discount anyone’s struggle on a personal level, but on a societal no.
See “halo effect”.  
Also I *believe* there was a study that showed women are more compassionate/helpful towards women they perceived as beautiful when shown images of them being hurt than those they saw as less attractive.  I believe the same study showed women were more compassionate towards more beautiful women, and less attractive men.

In some ways, but I think it’s far better to be socially beautiful or attractive than it is to have traits most people deem unattractive.

You can look like a shoe, and still be harmed. The difference is that if you don’t fit society’s beauty ideal, you’re less likely to be believed and treated with dignity. 
Individually, it is difficult to exist and be listened to. 
Society-wise, though, one still holds privilege if you fit a beauty ideal. Police, the news, your community are more likely to care.

I'm conventionally attractive, not to toot my own horn because it doesn't really mean anything to me but others jave always told me I'm attractive, I should say. And I've never seen it as anything but a privilege. People generally respond very positively towards me. Even with other women it's rare for me to come across a woman who acts catty towards me, and when it does happen it doesnt impact my life negatively. 
As far as predatory men....I really don't think men are more predatory towards attractive women. I think, as I believe I saw someone else mention in another comment, that they seek out women with low self esteem. And being afflicted with low self esteem really has nothing to do with how someone looks.

I’m very average and I have still gotten harassed by creepy men. I’ve had other women hate me for no reason. 
Just because a person is beautiful doesn’t mean they don’t get treated badly. Honestly there are people with crappy personalities which may be the reason of why people don’t like them. 
I’ve met women that act dumb on purpose and that’s sad they think there’s something wrong with being smart.

Maybe this is just me being petty but I don't think its hard, I'm sure having to deal with hate for no reason is annoying, but really we all deal with that in some way shape or form.
I look young, like people think I'm in high school. When I was younger it was even worse. I had terrible acne, I was short, and I didn't have womanly curves (I still don't but it was worse then). When I was 18 I tried to get on as a hostess at a restaurant, I walked in with my resume, I was dressed nice, had my hair done, some makeup. Another girl walked in as well asking for a job. They got the manager, the manager completely ignored me, didn't make eye contact, didn't ask me questions, nothing at all. He kept talking to the other girl who was very beautiful and well endowed, she was dressed in shorts and a fitted shirt, he was googly eyes over her.
I wasn't mad at her, I was mad at him for not giving me a chance, and I was mad that he was drooling over this girl cause I felt that was incredibly unprofessional. But needless to say, I never got a call or a job offer from this restaurant. 
Perhaps this was just a bad moment, but it isn't the first time I've seen someone's looks benefit them in life. I wouldn't say I'm ugly but I'm not conventionally attractive and looking like a high schooler definitely doesn't help lol.

Absolutely. Even if someone isn’t “conventionally attractive” women get harassed by men who find them attractive every day. Beauty is such a subjective thing, and causes problems for people even if society as a whole doesn’t deem them beautiful

I think beauty can be a burden when all people see is your face and not your brain. Say if you are a lawyer or doctor or scientist and people assume that you got where you are only because you’re pretty of through family connections.
