2nd baby - anyone nervous how toddler will react?

Hi all. I'm 38 weeks so desperate and so ready for this baby to come now however I am so nervous about how we will cope with my 2.5 year old with a newborn and how he will find it. Anyone feeling the same or maybe pregnant with their 3rd and can help put my mind at rest it'll be ok. We are in full lockdown in the UK too so no nursery is open so we will all be home together 24/7 and I'm starting to stress about it all.

I’m a FTM but my mom had my littlest brother a couple years ago, and my sister was 3 when he was born. They get along great! When he first got home she was so gentle and sweet to him. After awhile she did start getting jealous that my mom had to give the baby so much attention but she never took it out on our brother or anything. My mom made sure to have “mommy daughter dates” with her to reassure her even tho she has a little brother now she is still loved and now they are as close as can be.

Will have a 3yr old, he got a cousin a few months ago was excited the first time we met him and got to hold him after that he doesn't care lol. He does like being helpful when his cousin cries though for the most part but usually see him at grandparents and he rather spend his time with his papa.

My daughter turned 2 in September and I don’t think she’s gonna cope well... She argues with her older brother that I’m HER mommy not his, and when I bring up the baby in my belly or show her baby clothes or mention the baby’s bassinet etc she says NO! 🤣 
She was born when my son was 3 and I knew he was gonna be a great big brother before she was born because he was such a sweet boy. Really depends on the kiddo!

I have an almost 2 year old son and I was thinking about that today! I’m afraid his behaviors are gonna regress a lot, he’s so used to mom n dads undivided attention especially because we have been working from home since March, so I am not sure how it’s gonna go when he has to share attention.
I bought him a baby doll so he can practice or maybe understand what a baby is and he absolutely hates it, literally won’t go near it or touch it, so lets hope he’ll be more open to a real baby 😫

Same!! But I have an 18m old so he has NO idea what’s about to happen 🙃🙃 we got him a baby doll that he adores so I hope that helps and we’ve been talking about babies/watching videos a ton.
Someone else mentioned big little feels and 100% their tips!!
We plan on prepping our toddler as much as possible and we will try their 10 min miracle strategy. They say to spend 10 uninterrupted minutes with your toddler playing or doing whatever they want to and it helps them not seek attention for negative behavior. I haven’t tried it but moms swear by it!

Me too! My son is almost 2.5 and lately has been telling me that he loves me all the time and wants me to actively play with him (not just watch TV, try as I might). But I think it will all work out in the end. I know he's going to be a great big bro even though there will be some tension and jealousy.

My son turns 2 on 2/8/21 so I totally understand. But I follow BigLittleFeelings on IG and they have a lot of good content on prepping your toddler for baby and how to handle all the changes. It’s really put my mind at ease. But I am trying to soak up these last days of just being a family of 3

I am in the same boat. My daughter just turned 3 and I'm actually more worried about being away from her for 3 nights (scheduled c-section). We got her a gift from "Sofia" for each night we're away and have been talking to her nonstop about being a big sister and how she needs to be gentle (we see how she is with the dog 🤣) we'll all be ok! Get excited! Almost there!

Ditto. My 2.3year old understands that there is a baby coming and sometimes gives kisses to my belly and wants to cut her out with his play tools. But sometimes he is just so rough and wants undivided attention & love with no acknowledgement to the bump.
