When to start counting?

Is it true that your pregnancy “begins” on the first day of your last cycle (like when you are suppose to be counting from?). If so, I started last on Dec. 14th, which would make me 7 weeks along... but my doctor won’t see me for my first appointment for another 2 weeks. So that’s 9 weeks in... isn’t this too far in? I’ve had light spotting, cramping and loss of symptoms (and my doctor won’t see me, just said to go to the hospital with bad bleeding) so I’ve already been freaking out over this. But now... I feel like they’re seeing me too late. 😭

No your pregnancy doesn't start from your last period but when the baby is implanted but no one can tell you that so they do a estimate guess

It’s normal. I won’t get my first ultrasound until almost 9 weeks (8+5), and my first in person appointment won’t be until 12 weeks.

Yes that is how it’s calculated. And That’s a normal time to have ur first appt. there’s not much to see earlier than that and it causes unnecessary stress when doctors do scans too early.

Its super common. Both of my pregnancies my ultrasounds werent scheduled until i was closer to 9 weeks (based off of the first day of your last period). Theyve only had to adjust the due date on my second because my daughter was measuring behind. They cant tell exactly what day you implanted or actually conceived so the first day of your last period is the most accurate until a dating scan. Even if you measure different for a dating scan, in my experience they wont change your due date from you LMP estimate unless its more than a 7 day difference
