Who gets to meet baby?

Hi! How will everyone be handling who gets to meet the baby after they are born? Are you requiring masks for everyone? We have a lot of excited grandparents and siblings and trying to figure out how to best navigate.

We sent an email to anyone we thought might want to meet baby that basically said, the only way to see baby in person is to fully quarantine 2 weeks before hand. Otherwise you can meet her through the window or FaceTime. When it warms up and she’s gotten more vaccines I’ll probably be a little more relaxed. But even then there might be limited holding by others. I’m terrified of her catching anything but particularly covid. I’ve been basically locked up for 9 months. I don’t want to ruin it now.

This is such a hard one to answer isn't it. You don't wanna upset anyone but equally some how don't give a rats arse when you think of doing it to protect your baby.
We have gone with, ANYONE who is shielding. Working from home, aren't going out and sticking to lockdown rules. 
So far that is my in laws as my sister in law is due two weeks before me. My mother in law only has the two kids so she's shielding for us both. 
My mum is at home currently but due to go back 1st April so if the baby is late she's out of the question.
And I've arranged with the older siblings schools to continue home schooling till after the April holiday regardless of the outcome of lockdown. 
On a different note though, my friend had a baby beginning of the month and has allowed everyone to meet the baby as normal and has been completely fine. So who knows 🤷‍♀️

We are in lock down here in Ontario Canada and things don’t seem like there going to lift anytime soon. Whoever is in watching our first while we’re in labour/coming home will most likely see the baby first but other then that just immediate parents (mine and my husbands)  no one else until restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.  Plus they will have to wear a mask

My mom is already in our inner circle and watches our 2yo, so she will be allowed around the new baby. My in laws are a little more complicated. MIL works in healthcare, and FIL isn’t very careful about covid, so their contact will be very limited. We are going to require masks, and will likely arrange to meet outside on our patio. I doubt we will let the in-laws actually hold the baby or get very close until 3-4 months. Same applies to SIL.

Immediate family, however ADULTS ONLY. I LOVE my nieces and nephews but they are in school and don’t always wear a mask.

This has been a huge issue between my husband and I unfortunately. :( my mom has started to quarantine and will be taking care of my son, she will travel here and wear gloves, mask and shield on the hour flight here. My in laws have to fly cross country and I don’t feel they are as careful even though they say they are. I finally caved and said that if they come then I ask them to not visit their friends or family while here and if they do, then do it at the end of their trip and they won’t see the babies afterwards. I said no to my SIL coming, especially with her three children who are in school full time (huh? I’m not sure why that was even a consideration). And my sister lives in town and has been vaccinated and is giving me no issue that she may only meet the twins from the driveway. It’s a really difficult situation and unfortunately some people will have different opinions. I think it comes down to not worrying what others think of you. Xx
