Baby food?

Help. New mommy and just started on cereal. Do I give my baby both cereal and milk? If so how much? How often should he eat now? Dr said to get him to slow down on formula but he is drinking the same amount. Maybe not feeding him enough oats/cereal at one time?

I'm doing cereal mixed with breast milk 1x a day for breakfast and a vegetable 1x every other day for dinner also mixed with breast milk to thin it. We only do a tablespoon or 2 of each and I always offer breast before and after as well. We've been doing single grain oatmeal cereal because of the concerns of arsenic in rice. Milk should always be given first and the amounts should never change. Never decrease. 
Cereals aren’t necessary and not healthy. 0 nutritional value and pointless empty calories that baby fills up on rather than the proper nutrition from milk. 
Make sure that baby is 6m before giving solids. And no more than 1-2tbs once a day for awhile then gradually increase the amounts. Not necessary to give 2 meals a day until about 8/ 9m old and not necessary for 3meals until 12m.

if your baby is 4-6 mo you should always be giving baby formula/breast milk before food if they are just starting out. start with once a day, gradually build up when baby starts to eat more they will decrease their milk intake on their own overtime. don’t stress about that. you don’t have to only give oatmeal you can give fruit and veggie purées. try each food for 2-3 days to make sure baby has no reactions.
