So my MIL had this tree right outside her kitchen window that she needed gone because it was dying and branches kept falling off. She asked my FIL if he could cut the tree down for her instead of having to pay someone. My mother in law and father in law have been divorced for 15 years so this was a big favor she was asking. They don’t really get along but she is always asking him for favors and he always does them for her.

In the process of cutting down the tree 🌳 one of the branches fell and hit her kitchen window and shattered it. It was his fault this was a branch he was cutting and he thought he had enough room from the window.

Now this isn’t just a regular window. It’s a giant window that kinda bubbles outward and have glass shelves built into the window. This is the best way I can describe it, it’s a really fancy window lol. She called a company and showed the pictures of the window before it shattered and they estimated it would be around $1,500 dollars to build that window and install it for her.

Now she wants him to cover the cost of the window since he broke it.

I feel like it’s kinda wrong she wants him to pay when he was doing her a favor. She could at-least just have him replace it with a regular less expensive window. But she wants the expensive fancy window. She honestly should of just hired a professional because this tree was so close to the house.

If you were my MIL and someone was doing you a favor cutting down a tree for free and they accidentally broke your window would you make them pay for it?
