How was your labor experience ?

If anyone wants to give me details? I’m a first time mom & currently 34 weeks pregnant. Anything I should know? I have NO IDEA what to expect
Edit; also I plan to breastfeed if I can? Do I tell them that? Do they ask? What happens after I pop him out?

The nurses will discuss everything with you and take great care of you. You can take a birth class that will go over the whole process.

I asked that the lights be dimmed and that no one “cheer me on” or really talk to me directly. I wanted to hear my dr and my husband. I get easily overwhelmed by lots of people around so we only had whoever was immediately needed in the room with nurses on standby outside the door.

I’m a FTM too and honestly with this whole covid I didn’t get too much information about birth or breastfeeding other the the video my hospital provided 3 ( nutrition, blood work/ tests & breastfeeding ) I went my whole pre pregnancy and pregnancy with a set mind of always going natural  and not getting the epidural... I stayed strong when it came to my labor. I got contractions the 29th at 2am and was due the 30th ... I was freaking out well my contractions escalated and was in so much back pain because my baby flipped facing my spine. This pain was a level 10 and I was 6 dilated but hospital didn’t keep me because of Covid and she said it was best I go home to a more relaxed place ( my house ) then there since I wanted to go natural well baby girl wanted to come so soon my water broke the moment we got home and I freaked out (didntknow what was going on😂) I couldnt get up from doggy style (felt comfortable for my back pain) once we got to the hospital I was 9 1/2 so they rushed me and push for less than an hour and she was here. The most painful thing for me was my back pains ... pushing her out was a breeze ... i also feel like it depends on your nurse that lubricates you and stretches you out!  But I’d honestly say try walking a lot to help you open up quicker and go to the hospital once you feel like pains aren’t tolerated anymore that way you don’t spend too much time in a hospital bed / room ! Oh! If you feel pains and want to take something they told me I could only take Tylenol since that was safe for the baby too 🤷🏼‍♀️

Birth classes can be helpful in terms of knowing options for pain relief, what may happen, where you need to go on the day, when to call the hospital, etc.
I think it can be good to have a very loose idea of things you’d like but not to go in with a very rigid birth plan or set expectations on how things will go- things change and going in with the mindset that your safety and baby’s safety is the number 1 priority can be helpful to avoid feelings that you somehow ‘failed’ if everything doesn’t go perfectly.

My Labour with my daughter was a mess so my best advice to you would be to go in there with no expectations. Prepare yourself for anything because things can change in a min. I didn’t have a birth plan and just went in there thinking that whatever is safest for baby is what I’m happy with. I’m expecting my 2nd in 3 weeks and am going in with the same mindset. When things took a turn with my 1st I was so calm and fine with having an emergency c section because I didn’t have any set expectations! 
In regards to breastfeeding you’ll want to tell them
You’re going to give it a try so they can organize a lactation nurse to come in and give you some tips!

You should probably go in with a loose birth plan. Are you thinking all natural or some type of pain meds? Part of that plan is your desire to breast feed. 
You’ll share this all at the hospital with the midwife and nurses. I say a loose plan because shit goes out the window sometimes when your water breaks

my labor was greattttt 😩 i got the epidural so i didn't feel a thing while pushing & i had a second degree tear so i had to get stitches ... didn't feel that either 🤣 my son's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck so i didn't get to do skin to skin with him immediately, they took him to make sure he was okay & got his weight, length, & all that. about an hour later i got to do skin to skin & breastfeed him 😊
right after the baby comes out the doctor will push on your belly to get all the fluids out , that sucked !
