How did you get your newborn to sleep?

Question

My 5 week old rarely sleeps during the day. He sleeps fine during the night but during the day he’ll only nap once. I try rocking, snuggling, comforting, giving him a paci, everything. He just doesn’t fall asleep.

My daughter was similar (once I got her to sleep at night, which took like 3 hours every night). I finally got her to nap by swaddling her, feeding her to sleep, and then putting her in the swing when she was asleep. She would sleep in that swing swaddled for hours. That only lasted a couple months though. Soon after I got her to nap in her crib. I always watched her when she was swaddled in her swing too.

The whole first 2ish months, my LO napped in the glider, swaddled with white noise machine in my living room. Then around 2months I slowly transitioned him to naps in the crib-starting with his first nap.
He’s now 7months and a great sleeper- has been sleeping through the night since about 5months. I also swear by Takingcarababies- start following her if youre not already.

Try wearing him with a Moby sling. Walk around and do chores wash dishes until he sleeps. Than sit in a recliner and rest, nap, watch TV etc.
