Is there a difference between cheating & an affair ?

Some say cheating is just basically cheating. stepping out once and awhile. They say an affair is some ongoing thing that has feelings and emotions involved with that person. What do you think

An affair occurs when the participants are married. Cheating can occur when people are only dating.

I think an affair is having a consistent relationship with another person (just one) and having feelings for another person , I think cheating is just sex, could be one time or more but always a different person

You’re sleeping or doing whatever with another person when it’s not right in both scenarios. So, I say they’re basically the same thing.

I believe cheating is sex and an affair is a relationship. They are different. Doesn’t mean one is anymore right or wrong, just not the same.

They’re both cheating. An affair might be with another person for a period of time, not a one night stand with emotion and feelings involved. 
Both are equally bad and dealbreakers in most relationships. 
Only time maybe, maybe a couple can work through it imo is if it was a one time thing and the cheater was remorseful and came clean on their own

An affair is something long term than involves more than just sex (mostly) and cheating is one ffs. But it has nothing to do marital status.

I used to think cheating was a now and then and affair was more long term but Isnt it a title you cheat outside marriage but you have an affair within marriage?
Both the same thing being with someone else outside your relationship
