IVF & Fallopian Tubes

Amelia • Baby girl arrived safely 14/11/2021

Hey everyone,

I really need some help as I’m completely lost!

Had our first fertility appointment today, they found a tubal cyst in my left ovary (not concerning) but also my husband has a sperm count of 5.

The surgeon advised we would have to have IVF due to the count but I need to get my left Fallopian tube removed or capped... now I’m a little confused would I be sterile if this happened? Meaning I would be unable to conceive naturally or would this mean just one tube wouldn’t work? I feel daft but it was a lot of information at once!

Also anyone else out there been in a similar situation?

Thank you 🙏

Just one tube won’t work after the surgery but you should still get pregnant naturally with just one working tube. yes the count is too low so the chance for natural pregnancy is lower but it only takes one sperm to get pregnant, best of luck!

If you have one tube you could still get pregnant. But it would be unlikely with the sperm count. IVF would be your only option at that point.
