Do you remember how you felt the day you went into labor?

Caitlyn

For those of you mamas who have already given birth, first off, Congratulations!

I feel like my baby girl is going to come any day now. At my last appointment 5 days ago I was 3cm dilated with 80% effacement. I have soo much pressure down there and I think a lot of Braxton Hicks that keep me wanting to remain standing rather then sitting the last few days as when I start feeling them she starts moving a ton and it hurts like crazy. I’m 39 weeks and 3 days! The last couple of nights I’ve been uncomfortable and during the day I am having trouble doing much with our son. So the last couple of days I’ve just really have been wanting to help move things along so I take him for walks in his push tricycle for blocks then come back and just have immense pressure all day lol This mama is ready!

I mention these things because I also have a 2 year old son and I cannot remember to save my life how I felt the days leading up to his delivery. I do remember not sleeping well for two nights prior but then the day he came I just had immense pressure on my lower back all day and ended up learning I was experiencing back labor with him. He was also a very fast labor (about 5 hours of active labor at the hospital/ 45 mins pushing) though I think I may have done more laboring at home then I thought. It was a bit of a challenge as the doctor on call that night kept telling me I was inexperienced because it was my first labor and that she didn’t think he was going to come that night as she wanted me screaming in pain before I get to the hospital. Well.... ladies you know your body and if you feel your ready then go. We decided we disagreed with her and left for the hospital that was only 10 minutes away. Got through triage and learned I was 7 cm and was immediately admitted to delivery. I had him 6 hours later.

With all that said I feel like my body is ready and our girl is really low and putting so much pressure down there that it’s getting difficult to do anything with my toddler. Feeling so uncomfy but again not like in immense pain or anything so it’s all good but really hoping she comes and this mama is really just ready. I seriously wake up and feeling like today’s the day haha then I go to bed at night and I’m like ahh man!!! And we live in a small town now so our hospital is an hour and 45 minutes away. Because of this my doctor said that if she isn’t here by Friday she wants to start me on pitocin so we don’t have to worry about not being able to make the trip since my son came so quickly. She said usually subsequently pregnancies tend to go a bit faster so she worried.

How did you ladies feel, what happened and what were you up to on the day you went into labor?

Was it just like any other day or did you notice anything in particular?

Did you feel like you were getting sick? Were you extra tired, swollen, thirsty, hungry? Was baby particularly active or a little bit more subdued? Did you feel like it was coming on all day and know something was going to happen or were you just hanging out and all the sudden you started having strong contractions or your water broke?

I feel like I’m getting discouraged on just having her naturally as I was really hoping we didn’t have to do pitocin. But I understand the worry she has and she also isn’t being pushy with the pitocin at all but just overall concern that we won’t make it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
