Lip tie?

Hey Ladies! Would you consider this a lip tie? I’ve been struggling to get my little girl latched on and I’ve been reading some articles that this could be one of the reasons why. Did anybody else have trouble latching bc of this what did you do to help you breastfeed with out the constant soreness of my nipples and pain and I’ve seen they do surgery to correct this, is that true as well?

looks like my sons! he has a lip tie jusy like that and itspainful to breastfeed him :/ have to see a dental pediatrician to have it lasered off

That could be a lip tie, and I’m not dr but it’s doesn’t look severe to me . My first son had a lip and tongue tie so severe he had to have it fixed at 19 days old, you couldn’t even lift his tongue up or his lip up at all they were so tight but he breastfed fine even before the surgery. My second son just born last month he’s a tongue tie (minor) but no lip tie and I have slightly more pain with him and the way he latches because he doesn’t like to open his mouth widely like my first son always did . I know sometimes lip and tongue ties can affect breastfeeding but for my sons it’s been other issues affecting it more like not being positioned properly or not opening their mouth wide enough. I highly recommend a lactation consult she’s helped with both my sons and they’ve fed so much better after each time I see her . Hope this help

My girl had a lip and tongue tie, her lip looked similar to your baby but I’m no professional! Her latch wasn’t too painful but really shallow and our nursing sessions were super long. Our midwife clipped both in office at her 1 week checkup and it’s night and day with nursing. So it wouldn’t hurt to have it looked at for your sake and baby’s! I’m finding these ties are waaaayyy more common but not talked about a lot 🤔
