Twins?

Question

I scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound thinking I was 7 weeks. Turns out I was measuring at 6 weeks and 2 days. During my ultrasound they said they saw 2 sacks, one with a baby and heartbeat and another one that was empty. Twins does run in my family.
I’m scheduled to go back in two weeks. Have any of you experienced this before?

It may be that one was a vanishing twin, but as it’s still quite early you might have a chance for the second one to develop. Many of us have seen both heartbeats around that time, but if yours are measuring slightly apart which can be common for twins, there’s probably a possibility that the second one just hasn’t gotten to that stage yet.
