Experience with iuds?

Looking into getting kyleena or skyla but am worried about the affects it could have. I was on the pill before and it made me horribly depressed so that’s what I’m worried about!:( any stories/ reviews about iuds would be greatly appreciated!:)

Horror stories are the minority and should be taken with a grain of salt. Do fact based research (aka don’t read a bunch of reviews and then decide which iud to get). Figure out what you want from an iud, look up their purposes, functions, and effects. Then go to your doctor and discuss what you’ve looked into, and what you’re interested in using. Everyone has different experiences, so that’s why reviews should not be the basis of your decision.

I have Kyleena and it messes with my moods quite often. I think when people say the hormones are localized they don’t take into account that those are still hormones inside your body. It definitely affects my mental health and I’m getting it removed soon.

i loved mine. i had the copper one which bas zero hormones so none of those crazy side effects:) the insertion was painless for me. i didn’t drink tylenol or anything so i was completely fine but i’ve heard of ppl drinking tylenol to help them after the insertion. i’d 100% recommend

The IUD has no side effects. The hormones are minimal and localized to right where it sits. In your cervix. I guarantee you it won't mess with your hormones or depression. 
That's why I got mine. I didn't want any side effects or hormone issues. It's the only birth control besides condoms that doesn't cause any hormonal changes. 
The only thing you might experience is some bleeding or cramping after you first get it inserted, which should go away after few days to a few weeks. 😊
