Postpartum depression ?

Question

What were your symptoms and when did you realize you had it? How did you get diagnosed? If you were breastfeeding what did the doctor prescribe you to take? 
I am 7 months postpartum and think I’ve been suffering for a couple months but I don’t want to admit it.

I got bad postpartum depression. I wasn't sleeping at all and was very paranoid that my baby would die or something so I'd check her every couple of mins. I would cry and think about suicide and I didn't want anything to do with my baby. I was scared of taking care of her i didnt even want to hold her. I was a first time mom and I felt I was doing everything wrong. When she'd cry I would get frustrated and angry. I stopped pumping and went medication so my baby had to be on formula. But it was for my mental health. I even yelled and started fights with my boyfriend over everything. I broke up with him like 6 times. Wic has helped with the cost and I'm much better now on my medication than not being on anything.

Angry and irritated at everything. I was hair trigger and so frustrated with my baby for not sleeping. Every night felt like ugh I made it.  I was almost a year pp when I told my doctor I wasn’t doing well. I was starting to genuinely feel it would be better for everyone if I wasn’t around because I knew I was being so difficult. I was also so anxious, we were going through a really difficult time with my family, my parents were splitting and my dad is kind of crazy, so I blamed that for a long time. But finally started on sertraline and it was incredible. The difference within one day was amazing.

I never got fully diagnosed because i was never fully honest with my providers. I was so angry all of the time and spent many weeks feeling like i was crawling out of my own skin, or just feeling so hollow and empty. I was constantly picking fights with my husband and the day i wanted to hurt myself shouldve been the day i got help but i didnt. I talked to my husband and leaned on him. I was always so tired. Not just physically but emotionally too. I woke up every day feeling like a bitter, angry, failure and went to bed the same day. I didnt want my husband to touch me or be around me. It was easier to be alone. If you do feel like you are dealing with this please reach out. My doctors office offered a counseling referral but as a mental health provider i felt so ashamed to need help so i refused. I really wish i hadnt.
