Accept rent?

Question

If your partner offered to pay a month of your rent to animal sit 2 of their pets for over a month would u accept?
He offered because paying for boarding place is over twice the amount of my rent.
 I have been doing it and it’s been nice company and he’s also been helpful with them but part of me feels guilty accepting the payment. I almost feel like it’s a test to see if I’ll accept the money. Wouldn’t a girlfriend do it for free? He has been struggling financially yet it was his idea to pay my rent (since I’m saving him money as he has no option)

I originally voted ‘yes’, seemed like an appropriate trade off. But after reading that he’s financially struggling, I’d work out something less than that to help him out.

Women do not need to be overly giving in relationships. They need to make sure the squares are even that way if there is a break up they didnt feel used or that they overgave in the relationship. He sees the value and understands it. Besides it put u in a better financial position to save and he saves 50% and knows his animals are properly being cared for. Its a win win.

Idk how long you’ve been together, or what all pet sitting entails (like do you have to stay at his place? How much attention and effort do his animals need?) but I wouldn’t feel bad about him offering to pay you. Honestly I think it’s nice that he did, as it shows that he does value your time and understands you’re going out of your way for a long period of time to help him out. You’re also doing him a favor - pet boarding really is expensive. Personally I would feel bad asking someone to pet sit this long without doing something for them - paying them directly , buying their groceries, whatever, no matter how close we were. So he probably feels the same and at least needs to offer. 
If you really don’t mind and it’s not an inconvenience, just tell him you appreciate the offer but he doesn’t have to pay you - you’re happy to help.

Why would a partner test you in the first place? That's a weird thought to have? 
Yes, a partner would generally offer to help a partner for free 
But, a partner generally tries to be fair to a partner, so him paying rent might be his way of trying to be fair to you
Basically- couples generally don't sit there and play mind games and test each other. They generally have good intentions of being fair and helping each other out. 
It sounds like he wants to help you out by paying your rent, because you're helping him out by watching his pets 
Why do you feel like this is a test? That's kind of a concerning key point here to take note of

Since he is struggling I would just ask that he provide the food for his pets.  Honestly even if he wasn’t struggling I wouldn’t accept the money. I saw your idea of putting the money aside for a trip and really think that was a great plan.

I’d tell him he doesn’t have to pay it if he doesn’t want to. You’re willing to do it for free but if he insists I’d just take it 🤷‍♀️

No way! I would never accept that amount of money from someone I love to watch their pets. All I would need from them is food and any other necessities.

I would say no I would donit for free since there your partner and they are giving you everything that the pets need. And I just don't like to take money from others especially if they are haveinf financial issues
