Hello! I am currently 5 weeks today Due October 8th. I originally found out I was pregnant at my obgyn office when I went in for uti/etc problems. They done a pap smear and it's been 2 weeks and we finally got the results back. Everything was fine, except something came up as abnormal-significant or something, I can't remember the exact wording. So they called me and said that my OB was concerned, but not to worry. They want me to come in for an in-office procedure to go and check my cervix for what could possibly be popping up on the results as abnormal. They said I couldnt come in now because so early on could cause a miscarriage. So instead, they want to schedule it for 16 weeks. I was looking for advice from any mommas who may have went through this and can shed some light. Should I even do the procedure at all even if the risk of miscarriage goes down at 16 weeks? That seems like I'm still at risk and I dont want to risk something like that. What are y'all's thoughts, I'm so nervous. Thank you!

My doc wanted to do a LEEP at 16 weeks because of abnormal results from my 8 week appointment. By the time she wanted to do it, the problem had corrected itself and there was no need. I think you and your doctor should talk it over again at that appointment. I wouldn’t do it unless the doctor was super concerned.

Thank you for sharing! I dont feel very good about it, so I'm not sure if I will have it done.

Also, I’ve had a cone biopsy before and they can be pretty painful 😬 so, don’t put yourself through that unless absolutely necessary.

I wouldn’t have a procedure unless absolutely necessary. I had a bad smear in February 2020, was CIN2 in June, I was recommended a LLETZ procedure but was scared about removing part of my cervix when ttc. I focused on healthy eating, exercise and visualising my cervix healing. The nurse thought I was insane saying no. I booked a biopsy again in October and smear was clear and cin2 had regressed. She was shocked. In healthy women under 30 cervical infections can clear up well x
