20 weeks and 90th percentile??

Hi! I just had my 20 week anatomy scan and the doctor said my baby is at the 90th percentile in terms of size. Yikes! I’m a small person and not showing much and freaked about having to push out a huge baby. She also said that the baby is measuring more like 21 weeks so maybe the 90th percentile thing is just saying that I’m ahead of schedule for my due date? Anyone had something similar?

My first measured ahead my entire pregnancy. She measured 1 week ahead at 20 weeks and then by 36 weeks she was measuring 2 weeks ahead. She ended up being 9lbs 7oz at birth. I’m also very small, but my daughter was frank breech, so I had to have a c section. 
I’ll also add that measurements taken later in your pregnancy are less accurate than at your early dating scan around 8 weeks, so they will always base your due date on the original dating scan. Baby measuring big or small later in pregnancy just means a possibly bigger or smaller baby than average.

I’m also measuring a week ahead. Does anyone know why they wouldn’t just change your due date if you’re a week bigger than your original due date?

I wouldn’t worry too much about it at this point.  My son was measuring smaller at his 20 week. I want to say 50% or less then later was bit and had to do growth scans. He was 10 lbs and I had to have a c section.  My friend was told baby was measuring large. She ended up having a 5 lb baby and a normal labor 🤷🏼‍♀️.  Size will be clearer towards the end but it’s definitely not an exact science.

Yes! At my 20 week appointment, she was measuring 21 weeks and was in the 93% 😳 I'm also small
