Anyone else dealing with Reflux?

What’s your experience been? Our paediatrician just told us that’s what our daughter is dealing with. She hasn’t been gaining weight, isn’t sleeping much at all, fights at the breast & completely refuses the bottle. Just started her on some medication to help the acid reflux. Just wondering if other moms dealt with this or are dealing with this, how’s it going? Did the meds help? What do symptoms look like for you??

Yes we’re dealing with it, exactly like you, she wasn’t gaining much weight, kept crying when she was hungry for milk but just wasn’t drinking it. We started her on gaviscon as per the paediatrician a couple of days ago and it has worked wonders, she drink all her milk without any problems. I’ve heard it can cause constipation though so I’m not looking forward to that x what medication your little one being started on?

We were in the hospital for a week with ours because he got so dehydrated from not eating/vomiting due to reflux. He is on Prevacid now and is doing amazing!

My daughter has had reflux since 2 weeks old. I knew that’s what it was. Numerous doctors kept telling me that it’s just something they grow out off blah blah but I wasn’t happy waiting on that day to come. She was in pain with acidic vomit inbetween feeds, and brought up every feed that she had. It ruined our breastfeeding experience too. Eventually I demanded to see a paediatrician and she prescribed Omeprazole oral suspension. She’s on the lowest dose for her weight. It has been an absolute game changer. Shes a different baby on it.   It’s amazing. Worked really well for her. She’s 4 months now so her reflux has gotten better as her digestion has matured, but the Omeprazole has worked a treat too. We were first prescribed gaviscon infant powder to begin with (I’m in UK and the protocol is to attempt this first before any other medication for reflux) but it didn’t work. And it caused bad constipation with prolonged use. I hope the medication you’ve been given makes an improvement! It is so stressful for you and baby I know! Xx

This has been us since day one. Our only difference is that my daughter stopped fighting when nursing once they clipped her tongue tie. Now she lives on the boob as a way to fight the reflux without meds. It was a tough 3 months bc she would projectile vomit if we laid her on her back, so we’ve been sleeping in the recliner. Once she started rolling over, I started putting her on her belly to sleep. Now she sleeps through the night. I hope everything goes well and that it gets better soon!!
