Stressed over finding a sitter! What would you do?
So I go back to work on February 15th. I will be working at home but I work in Public Health, which we all know is crazy right now. I will constantly be on the phone and in meetings, so caring for my son at the same time will not be possible. Where I live we are back in lockdown because things have gotten so bad. I live in a small city with only 165,000 people total. Our hospital has a bad outbreak, several schools daycares and long term care facilities have bad outbreaks and we have now several cases of the UK strain circulating in the community. Things got very bad here and with the city being so small, it’s difficult to contain.
That being said, we are in lockdown and unable to gather with anyone outside our household. Since daycares are functioning at half capacity, we could not secure a spot for my son (not that I would put him in right now with the outbreaks). We are allowed a babysitter to come to the home or bring your children to a sitter, so we decided to have my MIL watch my son. Only issue is she is going against public health guidelines and visiting my brother in law. The issue with this is my brother in law is visiting multiple people, gathering in groups and is completely disregarding our stay at home order.
Everyone has their opinions on COVID, but I want to take all measures to keep my son safe. I tried talking to my MIL and she said she refuses to choose who she will and will not see.
I’m just not sure what I am going to do now! I feel like I have no options right now. I want to keep my son and family safe, but I also need to work.
I know it’s a tough situation but does anyone have any advice? What would you do in my situation?
