Parents saved my baby furniture

Heidi

My parents saved all my baby furniture with hopes that I'd use it for my baby. I like the dressers but it has a matching drop side crib from the early 90s. They were heart broken when I told them I'd take everything but the crib. Now they want to keep the crib at their house so they can use it when they babysit. How can I tell them I'd feel a lot more comfortable with them babysitting if they got rid of the crib and bought a pack n play for their house? They likely won't be babysitting much and I can just bring our pack n play when we visit. Would it be dangerous if they waited to use the crib until after the first year? The crib is in good condition, it just makes me anxious because it isn't recommended. My dad thinks"this safety thing is all a ploy to get people to keep replacing furniture."

Has anyone delt with something similar with their parents?
