Hi! I've been struggling with severe PMS that's probably more like PMDD. I haven't officially been diagnosed, but my doctors seem to agree that that's probably it. I've tried several forms of birth control already, but it seems that all of them have been poor choices for improving my symptoms. My PMDD is so severe that I become angry, deeply depressed, and suicidal for about 1.5 weeks prior to and for the first 3 days of my period, plus severe migraines and cramping, and then I start to feel a little better. I have very irregular periods with a cycle ranging from 31 to 45 days, though it's slowly gotten more regular after getting off birth control. I've been off birth control for a year now. I'm on amitryptyline but it's not doing anything to help. I already know I can't use anything progesterone only, because it seems to put me in a PMS/PMDD state continuously. I've been on the mini- pill and depo before. I've done two pelvic ultrasounds that have come up clear, so it's probably not due to PCOS. My DHEA-S levels are elevated during my pre-menstrual symptoms. Anyone with experience with PMDD have any advice or suggestions for a specific birth control pill? I don't get the impression that my ob-gyn or PCM has any clue and I need advice from someone who has dealt with this and found relief. I really appreciate anything you can tell me.
