My oldest son just turned four I have a 2 year old son and am about 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. My oldest son has had poor vision since he was a baby and we discovered about a year ago he has hearing loss as well which requires a hearing aide in one ear. Yesterday we saw several specalists and discovered his vision has worsened significantly and he is now at high risk of having a retinal tear. He is never going to be able to play any sports due to the risk of vision loss if he gets hit. We also saw a genetic counselor who feels he may have Stickler Syndrome. We are heart broken that he is always going to have some health problems and not going to be able to play sports that he wants to. It absolutely breaks me that his life will be harder than average. I'm also scared that this baby will have issues too and from my vast Google searches I see that Sticklers can cause Cleft Palates which scares the crap out of me. We won't have answers for several months as to if my son has Sticklers. This has just been an awful lot to take in.
