Birth Story Time!! Water birth!

Samantha

On February 4th at 6:30am at 40+6 I woke up to use the bathroom and saw some blood (finally! I had been waiting for bloody show). Shortly after that I started getting a full ache in my back so I knew it was finally time. I spent the morning getting the rest of my stuff together...about 1030 I started getting contractions every 20 to 30 minutes that felt like period pains but I had the pain in my low back too. I knew it was real because it's my 3rd and I remembered the contractions from my first 2 on pitocin! From 1030 until about 7pm they stated about 15 to 20 min apart then started becoming every 10 minutes. Hubby and I dropped the kids off with my parents then went out and got a milkshake and walked around target until they closed. About 1030pm I messaged my midwife that I wanted to go to the birthing center cause they were 6.5 minutes apart and getting more intense. We met at the birthing center and she said I was 5cm and 80% effaced (up until that day I was 4cm and 30%). I labored in the bed there for a couple hours then she checked me and I hadn't progressed any so around 2am she told me it would be best for me to go home and take a benadryl to relax my uterus and try to rest. I was so disappointed nothing was progressing but we left at about 230 to go home. Once we got home I took a benadryl then I laid in the bathtub for 30 min and labored in there. When I got out I started noticing I couldnt sit on my bottom or it would hurt and i would contract, so i laid in bed and slept in between contractions for about an hour. At about 430 am i got up and got back in the bath cause i couldnt handle the contractions anymore. They were super intense and i had to stay in one position or it hurt. I texted my midwife at 510 and she called me and told me to come back in. I could not even stand up straight so hubby had to help me dress and walk. We got back at 545 and she checked me and i was 7cm and fully effaced!! I started going thru transition while she was filling the birthing pool up. Transition is the WORST. But I stayed in doggy style kinda pushed back on my legs, head and chest on pillows and just did real low moans thru every contraction. Finally at 7am the pool was ready so I moved into that. 2 contractions in I felt a lot of pressure then a huge pop, my water finally broke. 2 contractions after that, my body started pushing. The first push was so surreal to me because I could feel him starting to come out then sunk back in...then contraction after that I pushed so hard uncontrollably and his entire head came out...one more contraction and his entire body was out! About 6 contractions in all in the pool and my baby was out! He was born at 7:14 am! I'm still so in awe of my body for going thru all that without pain meds or being induced. I am also glad this was my last baby! My first sons 3rd birthday Is February 14th so right now I officially have 3 under 3 and its challenging me right now!
