What is a membrane sweep?

I’ve never had one and I’m thinking of requesting one tomorrow (38+2) at my appointment.. good idea ? Bad idea? I know it works for some and not others

It’s a hit or miss on whether or not it helps, but I think it’s worth the try if you’re just over being pregnant lol. It’s uncomfortable but it’s safe and worth the effort.

My doctor did mine at exactly 38 weeks, I just been cramping since then. No baby yet so will see if she has to do another next week.

Mine won't even do it until at least 39 weeks. If your body is ready it could get things going or if not it won't. It did absolutely nothing for my first pregnancy. Didn't get one for my second. Got one today with my third and it was much more uncomfortable than last time I had it done so here's hoping.

I had two done with my last right at 38 weeks. I had second sweep 48 hours after first and delivered that day. I’m begging my doctor to do it again at my next appointment. I’ve been dilated to a 3 for almost two weeks. I’m in a lot of pain and over being pregnant.
