Any tips on helping baby sit?

She will be 6 months on the 13th and sits up straight only for a few seconds unassisted. If I do let her sit on her own, she tends to lean forward too much and looks so uncomfortable so I try holding her up by her waist to help but what else can I do to assist getting her back sturdy? :)

Give her a lot of floor time. When she lifts her legs up and grabs her toes and rocks side to side it’s building the muscles she needs to be able to sit. Have her play in a side lying position, on her back, and on her tummy. Sounds like she needs to build some more core strength to be able to hold herself up.

Anything that engages her core will help. We started with baby sit ups. She’d lay down in her boppy or the floor and grab my fingers and I’d help her sit up. We did bicycles so she’d be interested in her legs and toes and try to grab them. My husband would sit her in the corner of our couch and he’d sit on the floor and help her play with soft blocks. I’m not sure if it helped or my daughter was hair ready but she’s been sitting on assisted since 5 months. She only really tips over when she’s being dramatic or trying to reach behind too far. I’m too scared to let her be on the floor alone even now soooo 💁🏼‍♀️ for the record she HATED tummy time for months so we tried as many alternatives to build core strength as possible.

Laundry basket with a toy! And tummy time don’t need much else! We just kept working on it daily and she just magically woke up and wanted to sit up and hasn’t stopped since try not to worry!

I would prop my first up with the boppy pillow and wrap at least one of the ends round her belly to help her not fall forward.  She could completely lean on it to rest but would usually push herself off engaging all those core muscles and I could sit there and play with her while she worked out!  We could spend upwards of 30 minutes like this until she got bored or too tired and she started sitting unassisted only a few weeks after
