How do you guys manage the nicu...

🌹

When you have toddlers at home who are very attached to mama?

When my son was born at 33 weeks, my other kids were teens so I could spend 12 hours a day at the nicu without an issue.

He will be about 2 when this baby is born.

We already know we’re at very high risk for another preemie and this one may be a planned preemie based on how my placenta behaves.

I can’t imagine leaving my brand new preemie all day but neither can I imagine leaving my son who has been with me and only me since the beginning of the pandemic. He’s with dad too but dad is only home from work on the weekends so it’s not the same type of bond at all. We don’t have family around (at least not any being covid-safe) for me to help him get used to being with other people.

Do you do overnights then? How do you ever sleep if you do that? How do you get a chance to talk to doctors (they only did day rounds with my last)? The times we talked over the phone, I felt like they didn’t give me any opportunity to ask questions.

I’m so anxious about this that I’m regretting getting pregnant so hard right now 😩
