What age should a child be allowed off the bus on their own?

What age do you think a child should be allowed to get off the bus and walk up the driveway to the house themselves without an adult having to walk them?

Just up the driveway? If someone is home just open the door and watch them walk from bus to door 🤷‍♀️ if no one is home and they’re letting themselves in and staying alone, 11-12ish

At 7 I walked to the bus stop several blocks away by myself. Other friends did the same.  I’ve never heard of kids getting picked up/dropped off by the bus in front of their house (save for kids who had special needs) until I was an adult.

Um, I got off the bus and walked up the driveway when I was in kindergarten.

I used to walk to and from the school bus at the end of our street when I was 6. I don’t know how much my mom was actually supervising me from the window, but I felt like I was doing it myself.

We HAD to be waiting outside all the way through elementary school or they wouldn’t drop the kids off.

Not until 8, but that was in the 90’s. Lots of parents I know wait until 11/12 for safety’s sake.

Whatever age your child is in 1st grade. So typically around 6. My son has walked from and to school/bus stops by himself since his first day of school and the teachers are heavily encouraging this and remind the parents to let their kids do this themselves many times in the first grade.

In our district they have to be in 4th grade or older to get off bus alone

In our district its second grade which is good. Honestly my daughter would have been fine doing it in kindergarten
