Consultation appointment

Some background: I have some underlying issues with my reproductive system that I believe have been causing fertility issues. I planned on addressing this with my doctor at my yearly appointment and discussing fertility treatment. But before we could even get into that they discovered large ovarian masses on each ovary. Now I’m scheduled for surgery to remove the masses and because there’s a risk of losing my ovaries when they try to remove the masses I’ve been referred to an RE to look into options for preserving my ability to have a child post-surgery. I have an RE consultation coming up and I’m feeling very overwhelmed to the point that I’m wondering if I should even keep the appointment. I don’t know if we can afford this or if we will want to go this route. Did you feel pressured to commit to anything at your first appointment? Was it mostly just a conversation with the doctor? Did you get a lot of good info during that first appointment, especially regarding costs? After a couple years of TTC I had a feeling we’d end up exploring fertility options but now I feel under the wire to make a decision because I can’t postpone this surgery for too long.
