Update on harpers cancer journey
Hey yall, I know it's been a while. But I figured I'd update yall a little bit. Harper came back home to PA after being at st judes for 8 and a half months back in December. When we went back to st judes in early January for her follow up scabs we got the devastating news that four new tumors are growing now on both sides of the brain. Her cancer is such an aggressive brain cancer that there's not much they can do for it especially given harpers age. Us going to st judes was basically our only option. We did what we were suppose to do and it didn't work.. its truly heartbreaking. Our doctors told us there's nothing else to do. There are other chemos out there that she can do but in our hearts we know her body would not handle it , she had so many infections with the chemo she had already recieved. We came home on hospice. It's been an up and down roller coaster since we've been home but shes been stable. We are thankful for each day we do have her. She was admitted into our local hospital last week with a bacteria infection which means she will have to stay admitted for about a month to recieve antibiotics. She literally can not catch a break. It breaks my heart sooo much for my son who loves his sister so much and has such a bond with her even though he's only spent a few months with her out of the 14 months she's been here. Physically I stay so strong because I have to because I need to be their rock but some days mentally I'm just drained. Nobody and I mean nobody should have to watch their child go through this. Harper is such a fighter and she will continue to fight until she cant anymore. Follow harpers Facebook group HARPER STRONG for faster more frequent updates.
