If you have a really high cholesterol you should talk to a doctor and figure out if you can lower yours or if it's genetics then taking pills is an option (again talk to a doctor).
The average person should eat more healthy fats - like Omega 3 (fish oil capsules), eat avocado, salmon, nuts, olives, olive oil etc. And daily physical activity like running, hiking etc. Staying active and eating more healthy fats reduces your cholesterol in most cases.

I’m 25 and was diagnosed with high cholesterol about a year ago. I’ve done diet and exercise and it made no difference in my cholesterol levels so I have to take medication. Luckily it’s practically the lowest dose possible but it’s still very frustrating to deal with at a young age.
