Baby girl is here!

Justine

Went in for a routine Ob appointment on 2/10 and my blood pressure was high. I was 38+1 and since I had history of preeclampsia and I did have some protein in my urine my doctor decided it would be best to induce.

I got to the hospital at around 3:30 since I had to run home and pack and take my 17 month old to my moms house.

At 6:30pm they inserted misoprostal and I was already 1cm- 4 hours later I was 4cm and 50% effaced sand contracting on my own so, they waited to start pitocin.

4 hours later I made no progress and they started pitocin and I got the epidural as I was already pretty uncomfortable and I knew from having my son that the pitocin would make it worse. They checked me again for hours later and I still made no progress and they couldn’t break my water because she was too far up and so they upped the pitocin.

Finally another 4 1/2 hours later they were able to break my water which made my contractions crazy and they had to turn the pitocin down because it was dropping her heart rate with them. After a while my epidural stopped working on my left side and I was in agony.. they gave me an extra dose of epidural, but about 5-10 minutes after having it nurses rushed in and told me I needed to try and get on all fours because babies heart rate kept dropping. I had the hardest time getting on all fours as I had no feelings in my legs from the epidural.. but as soon as I started moving the epidural wore off on my left side again and I was in loads of pain again. They couldn’t get her heart rate to stop dropping for a bit and said if they didn’t get it to stop dropping in the next contraction I’d be going for a c section. Thankfully her heart rate steadied and I was able to lay on my side again (still in so much pain with each contraction) last I was checked I was 6cm, 70% effaced and -2 station.. well, they ended up re-doing the epidural which still did not take on my left side! They decided to check me and I was 9 1/2cm and pretty much ready to push.

At 6:27pm on 2-11-21 Amirah was born and weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long! This birth was much longer and harder than with my son and I’m glad it’s over lol
