Spina Bifida Occulta
Hello everyone, we had our anatomy scan at 18 weeks and found out there was concern of Spina Bifida Occulta. I also have a 2 vessel umbilical cord. They got us in for a fetal MRI two days later and confirmed it appears to be closed Spina Bifida Occulta however the membrane is very thin. We were told he could live and be totally fine or need surgery to fix a tethered cord. However, with the membrane being so thin there is always a chance of rupture the rest of my pregnancy which would lead to more sever problems that we would not want for our child. They can’t provide any statistics on likelihood of rupture or how many SBO cases end up normal. With our 20 week end date coming up for termination we are in a very difficult position. We’re leaning towards ending the pregnancy but wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience.
