Hello. After having two miscarriages in 5 months, I had a bunch of bloodwork done to look for any reasons why. I was recently diagnosed as having the MTHFR  Gene mutation (heterozygous for a1298c variant). We are trying to conceive again. My Dr is putting me on baby Aspirin right now, and I'm switching to "Thorne" prenatal that contains 1mg of Folate, 200 mg of B12, plus a Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA supplement.  However, once I become pregnant my Dr said I need to go on Folgard.

I'm very confused as to why I would be prescribed 800 mcg of Folic Acid while having this gene mutation. I believe I would still be getting 1 mg of Folate too from prenatal, then for some reason the 800 mcg of folic acid from Folgard. Dr. is very firm on me taking it. Did any of you take Folgard with the a1298c variant? I'm wondering if the "heterozygous z1298c" people CAN process some of the folic acid? I appreciate any help!
