So My husband and I moved to the country and started our little family. We have a 14 month old and im currently pregnant with our second baby. (2 months prego).
My husband wants to get a dog since we do live in the country and we figured it would be company for our kids. We both grew up surrounded by animales so we wanted to give that experience to our kids. 
Our 14 months old LOVES animals. she is always following my mothers golden retriever. My biggest concern is how will it work with one baby on the way and a toddler. Have any of you had experience? what would you recommend?

At 2 months pregnant I would say if you got one soon it would be mostly well trained by the time number 2 comes and good learning experience to be gentle by your toddler!

My advice honestly is dont until the kids are a little older. We got an Australian Shepard/Blue Heeler in Jan 2018 and had our first in June 2019 and it was still a struggle. We have another due in September as well. 
We do live in an apartment so when people were loud in the hallway he would bark and wake our daughter up. Taking a dog for exercise was difficult with a newborn especially by myself. 
And kids are scary around dogs. Thankfully our dog has never once bit our daughter or showed any agression aside from a warning growl, but you have to watch babies and toddlers every second around a dog. We try to teach our daughter to be nice every day, but that hasnt stopped her from trying to grab his ears, grab his tail, grab his feet or hug him when she backed him into a corner. It makes watching your crawling or walking baby even more exhausting. No matter how well trained or gentle a dog is, if they are nervous enough they will protect themselves. They are animals. 
Lastly dog breed is so important. If you do get a dog, do your research. We got a medium sized herding dog while renting an apartment without a yard 🤦‍♀️ we admit fault there. He's 3 now and still very high energy and bored easily. Know if youre getting a dog that is high energy, know if you are getting a herding dog (they will herd children sometimes), know of your dog needs jobs and not just a backyard, know your dogs temperament, ect. We got the first cute dog we saw. 
I wish we would have waited until we had older toddlers or kids just starting school. That gives them plenty of time to enjoy a bond with their pet and they will be older when the dog passes away. It would have made the newborn ans toddler years easier. But this is just my 2 cents and experience.

Our beagle was 2 years old when we had our first child, and our second is 9 months old now. Honestly, we could not ask for a better animal around our kids. He is so gentle and patient and has never snapped even if the kids get a little rough. With that being said, I think he does so well because we got him first and he had time to grow up a little before he had to be around small kids. I agree with the other comment about waiting until the kids are a little older at this point. I think it would be very stressful to have a toddler, a newborn and a new puppy at the same time
