Melbourne, Aus people, I need input!

So we're trying to decide where to go for an extended vacation (from the US), and Melbourne is at the top of our list. What I need to know most about are the creepy crawlies. With 4 littles who aren't used to giant spiders, how common are they in the city/suburbs?

I use the kids but let's be real, I'm the one freaking out slightly. Borderline arachnophobia here. 😅
