Cotton ball stuck to IV site

I know this is probably a really dumb question but I have anxiety so of course I got a little panicky when I went to take the tape and cotton ball off my IV site today and the cotton ball is stuck to the scab that’s formed over where the IV was put in. Is it safe for me to just pull it off or am I going to start bleeding from the site? I had the IV last night durning a CT scan

Just rinse it under water to loosen the dry blood. You won’t hurt it to pop it off either.

Apply water to the cotton swab/ball... it should come off easily.

As stated just apply some water to the site, and remove the cotton ball. You may experience some slight blood if scab is pulled off but it completely fine. You will not bleed out or anything, nothing bad is going to happen so no worries! My cotton ball gets stuck to the dried blood every time. It just happens!

You really shouldn’t leave those on for more than like 1-2 hours. You’re fine though. Take it off. And even if you bleed a little, you aren’t going to bleed out. Promise. ❤️

It happens! If it starts to bleed after you pull it off, cover it with a bandaid and put some light pressure on it with your fingers on top of the bandaid for a minute. It won’t bleed much. Best to moisten the ball with water first.
