Cereal? Rice?

Hi everyone, so my son pediatrician gave us the okay to start introducing some foods. Anyone started? If so what did you start with? My son will be 4 months on the 19th but he was 2 weeks early. Is it too early? Ugh idk

Mine was almost a month early and turned 4 months on the 6th. We started rice cereal and tried some veggies and he has loved it. He has really taken off with it. We started because he was really interested in food seeing us eat and can hold his head up. Just feel it out and if you want to try it try it, if you don’t you can wait as well. It’s up to you on what you feel. I went ahead and tried it and I am so thankful I did because he has loved it and done so well.

EBF here and my babe is only 16 weeks but we won't be doing cereal or anything until at least 6 months. I'm a firm believer that pediatricians are working with mostly outdated info on baby nutrition and I go by what my lactation consultant says instead. She has recommended that no matter which way you go (traditional cereals/purees or newer baby led weaning) that you should follow their cues. If they gag, spit it out, or seem upset, you should table it and try again in a few weeks. Also, maybe look into oatmeal vs rice nutrition wise! Good luck!

My health visitor gave us the okay from 17 weeks, we haven't started yet but she said theres no need for baby rice or porridge ect and to start straight on blended fruit and veg 😊1 at a time to rule out any allergies and to give bland veg at first so they dont get a taste of just sweet stuff cause then they dont normally want the bland ones, we'll be doing baby led weaning around 5 and a half months/6 months but have blended up and froze some veggies just incase as she is very interested in food xx

19 weeks today and I gave my little guy some rice cereal mixed with breast milk. He’s been showing signs of being ready. He loved it! I probably won’t give it to him very often, I’ll save most of the food for when he is 6 months, but I still wanted to go ahead and start introducing it.
